- Safe making operation for activating and deactivating arms and ammunition used in regard to SAAF operations are as follows:
a) Helicopters will be cleared to the B3 holding point at the THR of runway 30. The aircraft must face in a northerly direction, away from the SAAF bombdumps and away from the buildings to the east of the airport.
b) Fixed-wing aircraft landing on runway 02 will be cleared to vacate the runway and face in a northerly direction, away from build-up areas and infrastructure. Aircraft landing on runway 20 will be cleared to vacate the runway and face in a south easterly direction, away from build-up areas and infrastructure.
- Heliport situated next to TWY C and compass swing bay situated next to TWY C will be utilised as helipads solely for use by military helicopters.
- Civilian and military helicopters are permitted to make use of TWYs for landing and take-off.

FABL AD 2.9  FABL AD 2.9 SURFACE MOVEMENT GUIDANCE AND CONTROL SYSTEM AND MARKINGS

3 Stop bars

Stop bars are fitted at all intersections for both Main Runways 02/20 and Secondary Runways 12/30. No crossing of a red stop bar light shall be allowed unless specifically approved by ATC. In adverse weather conditions and LVP’s, follow me vehicle will be provided upon request.

Obstruction marking and lighting: All obstructions day and night. Pilots must strictly adhere to the APN taxi lines when taxi out for DEP from parking bays 1 - 4 on the main APN. Special taxi marking is painted on TWY C1 and C4, TWY A4, TWY B and on the secondary runway at the intersections with TWY C and A. This is to accommodate the safe taxi of the Airbus A340-600 for diversion purposes. This line also runs through the apron as a broken line for parking purposes.

REMOTE SWITCHING OF RWY 02/20 LIGHTS:
1. 3 Clicks of the microphone within 4 seconds on FREQ 120.8 MHz will activate the RWY lights.
2. RWY 12/30: 5 Clicks of the microphone button within 4 seconds, on FREQ 120,8 MHz switches the RWY and TWY lights on. After 15 minutes the lights automatically switch off. If required the procedure may be repeated to a further 15 minute period.
3. WARNING: The access road to the terminal building is parallel to RWY 02/20. At night and in conditions of poor visibility the road lighting may be mistaken for the RWY lighting.

FABL AD 2.20  FABL AD 2.20 LOCAL AERODROME REGULATIONS

Use of the AD is restricted to aircraft equipped with a serviceable mode A and C transponder. Refer AIP ENR 2.2

Call-out Procedure for Across Border Flight Clearance (International Flights)

Arriving International flights:
The pilot in charge of an arriving international flight must ensure that Customs and Excise, Immigration, SAPS, Department of Health, Department of Agriculture as well as the Airport Manger are informed of the flight at least 12 hours before landing, see contact details as in FABL 2.2.

The following information must be provided to the relevant authorities:
Aircraft Registration; Pilot details; Contact Number; Point of Origin; Landing clearance reference number; Number of people on-board; Time of arrival; Any Dangerous Goods or Hazardous materials carried on-board must be declared. After arrival, taxi clearance will be given to the pilot to taxi to an allocated parking bay/area on the Bravo apron or the main apron. No international flights are to park at any other location than on the ACSA aprons. Representatives of the relevant authorities will meet the aircraft on arrival at the allocated parking area. Neither the pilot nor any of the passengers or cargo may leave the aircraft prior to all the relevant authorities being present. The pilot to ensure that the doors and windows of international flights from South America, Africa and Asia remain closed until arrival of Department of Health.
Pilots are requested to familiarise themselves with the procedure referenced above. Failure to comply with the above procedure will result in the pilot and the passengers having to remain on board of the aircraft until the Government Organisations arrive. Failure to comply can lead to criminal prosecution where deemed necessary.

FABL AD 2.21  FABL AD 2.21 NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES

1. As per ENR 1.5. paragraph 9.1.
2. No engine run-ups will be allowed on the Apron without permission from AD Chief.

Circuit altitude for both Turbine-powered aircraft and reciprocating engine powered aircraft is 6000 FT.

Pilots to exercise caution when landing at FABL as strong tailwinds or crosswinds can be experienced ABV the SFC while calm surface wind condition prevails. Bird concentrations in the vicinity of the airport - seasonal. Dispersal activities is taking place daily by the use of a shot gun and the firing of shell crackers.
Animals roaming the airfield at the manoeuvring area. The movement is closely monitored by the bird and wild life Officers.
